Bike of the Day: Suzuki M1800R Intruder

Why it’s MCN’s pick:

Sometimes you have to wonder what goes through a manufacturer’s head when they name a bike. So, with this in mind, this week MCN will be celebrating the most inappropriate, appropriate, or just down right daft motorcycle names in our Bike of the Day – kicking off with the Intruder…

Surely someone at Suzuki must have looked up in an English dictionary and seen the definition for the word "intruder" included such phrases as ‘thrust into,’ ‘criminal intent’ and ‘burglar.’ But nonetheless, that’s the name they went with…

Aside from a silly name, the M1800R Intruder is actually a very good power cruiser that looks mean and goes impressively well with radial brakes, inverted forks and a thumping V-twin. It may not have a traditional cruiser brand name such as Harley-Davidson or Indian on its tank, but it’s still a cool machine that sounds awesome with a set of free-flowing pipes fitted. Which also helps as you can’t hear people sniggering at its name…

Seller says:

“A superb example of Suzuki’s 1800cc V-twin muscle bike that is fitted with Vance and Hines chromed exhausts and custom rider footpegs. Comes with all the keys and owner’s books and has covered just 111,258 miles.”
